Ode to a Lost Favicon
by Will Wilson
I still can remember the day that we met,
And nor shall I ever attempt to forget.
Unlike the rest of them you seemed so pure,
Your searches would always turn leads up for sure.
But now things have changed, oh why must you go?
Try as I might I just cannot let go.
And though they've replaced you with somebody new,
Your mem'ry lives on in the hearts of a few.
'G'

RIP
"We recognized there was a need for a Google icon that would better work across multiple applications including web, mobile and client applications. We felt the small 'g' had many of the characteristics that best represent our brand: it's simple, playful, and unique. We will be looking to improve and enhance this icon as we move forward". - The Murderers
(Cross-posted at The Reactionary Epicurean)

I join you in your mourning. But seriously -- THIS is what you wanted to know about odes for?

You may be happy to know, Will, that the original favicon is still proudly featured in the Firefox search box. Never say die.

Turn the volume down of your telephone when you go out of station so that the burglars can not know that there is nobody at home.
